On January 1st 1892 Annie Moore became the first of what would be 12 million immigrants to pass-through Ellis Island during it's time of operation. Annie and her two brother's left their home in Cork Ireland to make the 12 day journey to join their parents and sibling in New York City. Annie found herself at the front of line, pushed forward by a less photogenic german, and presented with a gold $10 gold by eager American officials who had high hopes for Ellis Island.
